Further casting has been announced for the West End premiere of Big The Musical which opens at the Dominion Theatre this September.
Former pop-singer and Girls Aloud alum Kimberley Walsh will play love-interest Susan, with Wendi Peters, best known for playing Cilla Battersby Brown in Coronation Street, playing Josh’s mum Mrs Baskin, and Matthew Kelly to play toy company CEO George MacMillan. The trio of top class actors join Jay McGuinness, who will lead the cast as Josh Baskin in the film-to-stage musical.
Walsh previously starred as Jovie in Elf The Musical at the Dominion Theatre and as Princess Fiona in Shrek The Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
In addition to her much loved role as Cilla on Coronation Street, Wendi Peters extensive theatre credits include the Vagina Monologues, White Christmas, Salad Days, Quartet, Wonderland and Oh What a Lovely War.
Matthew’s many tv and theatre credits include Cold Blood, Benidorm, Bleak House, Of Mice and Men (Savoy Theatre) and Waiting For Godot with Ian McKellan and Roger Rees, though he is probably best known for presenting You Bet! and Stars in their Eyes
Based on the smash-hit movie starring Tom Hanks, BIG The Musical tells the story of Josh Baskin, a 12-year-old boy who longs to be big. When a mysterious carnival machine grants his wish he finds himself trapped inside an adult’s body and is forced to live and work in a grown-up world. Comedy and fun ensues as his child-like innocence has a transforming effect on the adults he encounters.
Big The Musical is booking from 6 September 2019 until 2 November 2019 at the Dominion Theatre, London.
