Leicester Curve have announced final casting for the UK tour of Grease The Musical, which opens at Leeds Grand Theatre in June.

Dan Partridge (Mamma Mia! West End), newcomer Martha Kirby, 2018 Stage Debut Best Actor winner Louis Gaunt (Oklahoma! Grange Park Opera) and Rhianne-Louise McCaulsky (Bat Out of Hell – The Musical West End) will star as Danny, Sandy, Kenickie and Rizzo respectively.

Peter Andre to play Teen Angel.

 

They join the previously announced Australian pop-singer and reality tv star Peter Andre who will play Teen Angel at most performances.

 

Curve’s Artistic Director and director of GREASE, Nikolai Foster, said, “This cast are going to blow audiences’ minds with their edge, life-force and sheer exuberance.”

On the young cast, Choreographer Arlene Philips said, “The cast are incredible, many of them fresh out of college and ready to burst onto the stage.” She added “I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to choreograph a new production of GREASE. This new production is going to be edgy, vibrant and certainly takes a new look at this very exciting musical.”

Also in the cast are Jordan Abey, Ryan Anderson, Damian Buhagiar, Eloise Davies, Natalie Wood, Tara Sweeting, Dale White, Jessica Croll, Corinna Powlesland, Abigail Climer, Darren Bennett, Will Haswell, Thea Bunting, Emily Beth Harrington, Jonathan Hermosa Lopez, Dom Hutcheson, Ruby May Martinwood and Lindsay McAllister.

The classic 1971 musical, best remembered for the 1978 musical film adaptation starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, features songs including “Hopelessly Devoted”, “Greased Lightnin'” and “You’re the One that I Want”.

Grease will directed by Nikolai Foster with choreography by Arlene Phillips, set and costume design by Colin Richmond, orchestrations and musical supervision by Sarah Travis, lighting design by Guy Hoare and sound design by Sebastian Frost.

Grease The Musical opens at Leeds Grand Theatre, playing from 19 June 2019 until 20 July 2019, and will then travel to Southend, Sunderland, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leicester, Dublin, Oxford, Bromley and Cardiff.
