Park Theatre have announced casting for Beneath The Blue Rinse, a wickedly funny, high octane comedy about growing old passionately and disgracefully.
Ian Redford (Mary and Martha), Marlene Sidaway (Maureen in Mum, In The Long Run ) and Kevin Tomlinson (Spiral, Seven Ages) star in Tom Glover’s play, which is directed by Glen Walford (Shirley Valentine – UK Tour).
Glover’s three-hander follows an unscrupulous, over-confident door-to-door salesman who attempts to sell an overpriced alarm system to a seemingly timid old lady. Little does he know what he’s let himself in for, as she and her toy-boy lover are not what they first appear.
Described as “Quentin Tarantino meets Last of the Summer Wine”, Glover said “I hate little old ladies – the ones you see in dramas who are pottering, harmless cardigan-wearing biddies. I wanted to write a piece which challenged that cliché and packed a punch demonstrating that age is no barrier to radicalism and relevance.”
Beneath The Blue Rinse runs from 21 May 2019 until 15 June 2019 at the Park Theatre, London.
