Jason Manford has been announced as the host of the 2019 Olivier Awards.

The actor and comedian previously hosted the Olivier awards in 2017 and takes over from Catherine Tate who hosted the awards ceremony last year.

Jason Manford’s theatre credits include The Producers, Sweeney Todd and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and it was recently announced that he will be leading the cast of a new touring production of Kander and Ebb’s Curtains later this year.

Manford said: “I’m absolutely chuffed to bits to be back hosting the Olivier Awards at the Royal Albert Hall. Having worked in theatres all across the country doing both stand-up and musicals for the last 20 years, I know the hard work that goes into putting on a show. It’s a privilege to host this star-studded evening and to celebrate the very best of all areas of British theatrical talent.

The nominations for the 2019 Olivier Awards will take place on March 5 at 1pm, when they will be broadcast live on Facebook.

Winners will be announced at the star-studded awards ceremony on 7 April 2019 at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
