Visionary director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, Hadestown) talks about her forthcoming production of Arthur Miller’s The American Clock which begins previews at the Old Vic Theatre next week.

Listen to her take on Miller’s ground-breaking play about hope, idealism and a nation’s unwavering faith in capitalism.

Written by Arthur Miller in 1980, and inspired by his own family experiences of the great depression The American Clock is an unfolding story of America’s faith in a failing economic system told through the Baum family.

Celebrating the changing face and evolution of the American family, three sets of actors will appear in the central roles of Rose, Moe and Lee Baum for each performance.

The cast features Clarke Peter, Sule Rimi, Amber Aga, Paul Bentall, Greg Bernstein, Clare Burt, Flora Dawson, Abhin Galeya, Fred Haig, Jyuddah Jaymes, James Garnon, Christian Patterson, Francesca Mills, Julie Jupp, Taheen Modak, Golda Rosheuvel, Abdul Salis and Ewan Wardrop.

  1. Left at interval. It was a really terrible production don’t waste your money. Confused over staged and most of all quite boring.
