Downton Abbey‘s Julian Ovenden will join the cast of All About Eve, which premiere’s at the Noel Coward Theatre this February.
Ovenden will play Gillian Anderson’s much younger love interest, Bill.
As previously announced X-Files star Anderson is cast as Margo Channing, with rising star Lily James (Baby Driver, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Darkest Hour, Downton Abby) playing the ultimate schemer Eve Harrington.
The first-rate cast also features BAFTA award winner Monica Dolan (Tracey Pritchard in BBC series W1A, A Very English Scandal) as Margo’s close friend Karen Richards, Rashan Stone (BBC series Killing Eve) as playwright Lloyd Richards and Sheila Reid (Madge in comedy series Benidorm) as Margo’s maid Birdie.
Directed by Ivo van Hove, one of the world’s most innovative theatre directors, All About Eve promises to deliver a razor-sharp, unsettling exposé of the eternal obsession at the heart of show-business.
Ivo van Hove’s direction will be accompanied by set and lighting design from Jan Versweyveld, costume design by An D’Huys and music from double Mercury Prize-winner PJ Harvey, alongside Tom Gibbons’ sound design.
All About Eve will run from 2 February 2019 until 11 May 2019 at the Noel Coward Theatre, London.
