Shakespeare’s much-loved late romance The Winter’s Tale will be broadcast from the Globe Theatre next month.
Director Blanche McIntyre’s “superb cast deliver striking performances” (Guardian ****) in this great drama of irrational emotions and inexplicable forces, which shows us how even the greatest cruelties can be redeemed by love, forgiveness, and a little gentle magic…
The sweeping plot of The Winter’s Tale takes us from the seething, stifled Sicilian court to the joyful chaos of Bohemia.
The production features Will Keen, Oliver Ryan, Priyanga Burford, Sirine Saba, Norah Lopez-Holden, Becci Gemmell, Zora Bishop and Howard Ward.
Author Jeanette Winterson and broadcaster Emma Freud will host the screening and will interview some of the creative team behind the production. They will also discuss the play, often considered one of Shakespeare’s ‘problem plays’ and will talk about the history of the Globe.
Entertainment company More2Screen will broadcast the play from the Globe Theatre on 9 October 2018.
