Anita Dobson and Craig Revel Horwood will star as ‘Miss Hannigan’ in the forthcoming UK tour of much-loved musical ANNIE opening at the Manchester Opera House on Saturday 2 February 2019.

Anita will play the role from 2 February – 27 April 2019 and Craig will play the role from 30 April – 6 July 2019.

Anita is best known for playing Angie Watts in EastEnders, one of the most popular characters in British television.  Her West End credits include ‘Madame Morrible’ in Wicked, ‘Mama Morton’ in Chicago, ‘Mrs Meers’ in Thoroughly Modern Mille, ‘Chris’ in Calendar Girls, ‘Joan Crawford’ in Bette and Joan and ‘Nancy’ in Frozen at the National Theatre.

Craig Revel Horwood is probably best known as a judge on all 16 series of BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing. He returns to the part of ‘Miss Hannigan’ having played the role in this production in both the West End and on the 2015/16 UK tour.

Annie is a multi-award winning Broadway classic about a young girl who is forced to live a life of misery and torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. Determined to find her real parents, her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. Spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search…

The musical features the iconic songs ‘It’s the Hard Knock Life’, ‘Easy Street’, ‘I Don’t Need Anything But You’ and ‘Tomorrow’.

The tour plays Manchester Oper House from 2 February 2019 until 16 February 2019, followed by Wolverhampton (19-23 Feb), Oxford (4-9 Mar), Bristol (19-23 Mar), Chester (25-30 Mar), Hull (1-6 Apr), Newcastle (8-13 Apr), Glasgow (15-20 Apr), Bradford (22-27 Apr), Southampton (30 Apr – 4 May), Plymouth (6-11 May), Llandudno (14-18 May), Nottingham (20-25 May), Southend (27 May -1 Jun), Sheffield (4 – 8 Jun), Woking (10-15 Jun), Dartford (17-22 Jun), Liverpool (24-29 Jun) and Milton Keynes (1-6 Jul).
