Downton Abbey’s Phyllis Logan in Switzerland

Images have been released offering a first look at the UK premiere of psychological thriller Switzerland.

Phyllis Logan aka Downton Abbey’s Mrs Hughes plays renowned crime author Patricia Highsmith, now ageing and living a secluded life in the Swiss Alps.

Rising star Calum Finlay Mary Stuart and Hamlet (Almeida / West End) plays Edward Ridgeway – a polished young man sent from her New York publisher tasked with convincing her to pen one final instalment of her best-selling series.

What ensues is a gripping play for power and control, worthy of Highsmith’s pen.

Switzerland premiered in Australia in 2015 where it won Best New Australian Work at the Sydney Theatre Awards.

The play paints a portrait of one of the great writers of the 20th century, Patricia Highsmith, famed for writing The Talented Mr Ripley, Strangers On A Train and The Price of Salt.

Joanna Murray-Smith’s acclaimed two-hander is directed by Lucy Bailey and forms part of Jonathan Church’s Summer Season as Artistic Director at Theatre Royal Bath.
