Mark Rylance and Sheila Atim are among the cast announced today for Claire van Kampen’s production of Othello which opens at Shakespeare’s Globe this July.

Rylance, founding Artistic Director of the Globe, will play the schemeing villan Iago alongside Olivier Award winner Sheila Atim (Girl From The North Country) as his wife Emilia in Shakespeare’s tragedy.

Aaron Pierre (Dev-Em in SyFy’s hit series Krypton) will play Othello’s loyal servant Cassio with André Holland (Moonlight and Selma) cast in the titular role.

Casting also includes Catherine Bailey (Mr Selfridge), William Chubb (This House, National Theatre), Steffan Donnelly (The Innocents, Netflix), Micah Loubon, Ira Mandela Siobhan (Mosquitoes, National Theatre), Clemmie Sveaas (Macbeth, Young Vic), Badria Timimi (Syriana) and Jessica Warbeck as Desdemona.

Othello is booking from 20 July 2018 until 13 October 2018 at The Globe Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, London.
