X Factor winner Matt Terry will lead the cast of the brand new UK tour of Madagascar – The Musical which opens 21 July 2018 at New Wimbledon Theatre.
Terry will make his theatre debut playing Alex The Lion in the brand new stage adaptation of Disney’s hit animation. He said Madagascar is “a childhood memory” and he “can’t wait to bring the lead role of Alex to life”.
Since winning X-Factor in 2016, Terry has been busy recording music all over the world; his Ed Sheeran penned winner’s single ‘When Christmas Comes Around’ reached number 3 in the charts, and his first single ‘Sucker For You’ – from his debut album ‘Trouble’ – has had nearly 60 million streams on Spotify. He has also featured on Enrique Iglesias’s smash single, Subeme La Radio alongside Sean Paul
Joining Matt in Madagascar – The Musical will be Antoine Murray-Straughan,Timmika Ramsay, Jamie Lee-Morgan, Shane McDaid, Laura Johnson, Jessica Niles, Victoria Boden, Matthew Pennington and Darren John.
Based on the smash hit DreamWorks animated film, Madagascar – The Musical follows a group of wacky animals who escape from their comfortable home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to explore the world.
The production is directed by Kirk Jameson with choreography by Fabian Aloise,costume and set design by Tom Rogers, lighting design by Howard Hudson, sound design by Chris Whybrow, musical supervision from Mark Crossland and puppet direction from Emma Brunton.
Following its premiere in Wimbledon, the UK tour of Madagascar – The Musical will play over 25 venues including Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, Blackpool, Brighton, Liverpool, Brighton, Exeter, Swansea and Hull.
