Ray Quin to star in Summer Holiday musical

Casting announced for UK tour of Summer Holiday Musical

The famous red bus, with a new cast of London Transport Mechanics is set to hit the road in May, as Summer Holiday the musical opens in Liverpool.

Based on the hugely popular 1960’s hit film, the part of Don originally played by Cliff Richard will be performed by former X-Factor and Dancing on Ice star Ray Quinn.

With Sophie Matthew’s playing the runaway singer, Barbara, and Booby Crush the role of Jerry, the long-suffering agent, the show is to include all of the number one hits by Cliff Richard and the Shadows. Best songs from the film will include, Bachelor Boy, Move It, Living Doll, The Young Ones, On the Beach, In the Country, Summer Holiday, Travellin’ Light.

The stars of the show, Sophie Matthews (Barbara) is best known for playing Sarah in Our House, and in the role of Ginny in Humans. Ray Quinn (Don) first shot to fame as the runner-up on X Factor in 2006, sparking a career in music and musicals.

Staying true to the original story, along the way Don and his fellow mechanics, Billy Roberts (Steve), Joe Goldie (Edwin) and Rory Maguire (Cyril), pick up girl singing group ‘Do-Re-Mi!, Gabby Antrobus (Mimsie), Alice Baker (Alma) and Laura Marie Benson (Angie).

With previous experience of the musical, playing Angie in the original 1997 production of Summer Holiday, Taryn Sudding will be returning to take on the role of Stella, Barbara’s controlling fame-hungry mother.

Opening in Liverpool, Summer Holiday is set to tour the UK from the 8th May 2018 with dates expected in the West End.
