Nominations for Theatre-Lands most prestigious awards were announced via a live stream today on Facebook by legendary theatre musical star Elaine Paige and singer Alexandra Burke.
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s new musical about the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton continues to break records; with 13 nominations Hamilton is the most nominated production in the Oliviers history.
The National Theatre had a good year with numerous nominations for Dominic Cooke’s revival of Follies, new play Network starring American Bryan Cranston and a revival of Angels in America.
Jez Butterworth’s highly anticipated new play received 8 nods including Best Director, Best New Play, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and two in the Best Supporting Actress category.
Four individuals received two nominations each: Actress Imelda Staunton, playwright James Graham, Set & Costume designer Vicki Mortimer and lighting designer Paule Constable.
Catherine Tate will host the Awards at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 8 April 2018 and they will be broadcast to the UK and worldwide
