ITVs Dancing on Ice judge Jason Gardiner and Olivier award winner Tracie Bennet will star in the West End premiere of Ruthless! The Musical.
The camp killer classic follows an 8 year old Tina Denmark who will do ANYTHING to play the lead in her school play.
Originating off-Broadway 25 years ago the show is famous in New York for spoofing Broadway musicals from Gypsy to Mame as well as iconic films like The Bad Seed & All About Eve.
The musical has also been a vehicle for child stars including Natalie Portman and Britney Spears.
Fresh from her showstopping turn in Follies at the National Theatre, double Olivier award winner Tracie Bennet will play Tina’s grandmother, a tart-tongued theatre critic who hates musicals, with Gardiner playing overbearing and sleazy agent Sylvia St. Croix.
The cast also includes Harriet Thorpe (The Brittas Empire, Absolutely Fabulous)as Myrna Thorn, the third-grade teacher and frustrated actress who directs the school musical; Broadway actress Kim Maresca as Tina’s mum, Judy; and Lara Denning as Louise Lerman/Eve. Full casting is to be announced.
Ruthless! The Musical will run from 16 March 2018 until 23 June 2018 at the Arts Theatre.
