Jim Broadbent to star in new Martin McDonagh play at the Bridge Theatre

BAFTA and Academy award winner Jim Broadbent will lead the cast in Martin McDonagh’s new play A Very Very Very Dark Matter, which premieres at the Bridge Theatre in 2018.

A fictional account of Hans Christian Andersen and the inspiration behind his exquisite and fantastic children’s tales, A Very Very Very Dark Matter is described as a dangerous, twisted and funny new play that travels deep into the abysses of the imagination.

An award-winning writer and director, Martin McDonagh’s plays include The Cripple of Inishmaan, The Pillowman and Hangmen.

A Very Very Very Dark Matter will be directed by by Matthew Dunster and designed by Anna Fleischle who both worked on McDonagh’s acclaimed production of Hangmen at the Royal Court and in the West End.

Jim Broadbent’s distinguished career spans film, television and theatre. His extensive theatre credits include Martin McDonagh’s The Pillowman at the National Theatre, numerous plays at the Donmar Warehouse, the Old Vic, the Royal Court and the Royal Shakespeare Company and has most recently been seen on stage in A Christmas Carol at The Noel Coward Theatre.

A Very Very Very Dark Matter will play a limited 12 week run from 10 October 2018 until 29 December 2018 at the Bridge Theatre.
