Gina McKee will lead the cast in Eleanor Rhode’s forthcoming production of Boudica at Shakespeare’s Globe this September.
Tristan Bernays’ new play charts the story of one of Britain’s most famous warrior queens and is the final production in Emma Rice’s Summer of Love season.
McKee is best known for her screen including Notting Hill with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, Atonement with Keira Knightly and television dramas Line of Duty (BBC), Vera (ITV) and The Borgias (Showtime).
Her extensive theatre credits include playing Queen Elizabeth in Jamie Lloyd’s Richard III at Trafalgar Studios, Goneril in Michael Grandage’s King Lear at the Donmar Warehouse, Anne in Lyndsey Turner’s Faith Healer at the Donmar Warehouse and Viv in Amelia Bullmore’s comedy Di and Viv and Rose at the Vaudeville Theatre.
The main cast also features Forbes Masson (Terror, Lyric Hammersmith; Travesties, Apollo Theatre), Joan Iyiola (You’re so Relevant, Young Vic) and Samuel Collings (The Inn at Lydda, Globe).
Boudica will run from 8 September 2017 until 1 October 2017 at Shakespeare’s Globe.
