LIFT announces revival of Minefield in UK

Lola Arias acclaimed production of Minefield will return to the UK for a limited run at the Royal Court Theatre, ahead of a UK tour.

Widely regarded as a theatrical highlight of 2016, Minefield is an unforgettably potent exercise in remembrance. Past and present intersect with extraordinary power and eloquence in this deeply affecting show about the Falklands conflict.

Arias recruited six veterans of the 1982 Falklands War – three from each side – to devise a piece in which they pool their first-hand experiences of the conflict and the toll it has taken on their lives since then.

Using archive footage, live feeds, music and projection Minefield presents the deeply personal and enduring stories of aftermath of conflict.

Arias said, ‘War isn’t what interests me, it’s what comes after the war that interests me. What matters to me is what happens to a person who went through that experience. What matters to me is what memory has done, what it has erased, what it has transformed.’

Minefield will run from 2 – 11 November 2017 at the Royal Court Theatre, followed by Brighton’s Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (15-17 Nov), with further dates in Newcastle, York, Cardiff and Manchester in 2018.
