Kara Lily Hayworth has been cast as Cilla Black in the new musical about the legendary entertainer.
The young actress was among many hopefuls who attended the open auditions at London’s Dominion Theatre earlier this year, going on to clinch the role at the final audition at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.
A graduate the central School of Speech and Drama, Hayworth was most recently seen playing Satine in Secret Cinema’s immersive Moulin Rouge.
Cilla – The Musicalwill open in Cilla’s hometown of Liverpool (7 – 16 September) and continue with a UK national tour.
The highly anticipated musical is an adaptation of Jeff Pope’s acclaimed ITV mini-series which starred Sheridan Smith. The musical will follow Cilla’s early life in Liverpool, and her rocky, yet meteroric rise to stardom as a singer and then queen of Britain’s TV screens.
Cilla – The Musical is co-directed by Bill Kenwright and Bob Tomson and written by Pope.
