STORY

A successful middle-class couple’s lives are irrevocably changed after their teenage son is mercilessly bullied for being gay. In an attempt to “move on” they invite his chief tormentor, and his parents, to a dinner party.

Far from finding the peace they seek, the dinner strips bare their good intentions to reveal layers of parental, sexual, and political hypocrisy.

The cast features Todd Boyce (Michael), David Leopold (Curtis), Alex Lowe (Bill), Lucy Robinson (Debora) and Lisa Stevenson (Tamara).

West End transfer for Late Company

Canadian playwright Jordan Tannahill's Late Company will receive its West End debut later this year. Following a critically acclaimed and sold-out run Finborough Theatre in April, Late Company will play a limited season from 21 August at Trafalgar Studios. Tannahill's powerful new drama, which was written following an incident in his hometown of Ottawa, explores restorative justice, cyber bullying, and the ever-changing complexities of parenthood in the 21st century. In support of the production, CEO of CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), Simon Gunning said, “Late Company is a powerful play that centres around the highly difficult themes of bullying, suicide, sexuality, and family dynamics. CALM is proud to support a show that starts the conversation of stigma surrounding mental health, as well as the dark side of social media and high-school hierarchy. This confrontational play is beautifully cast, acted, and directed; and will certainly help to spread the word about the devastation of suicide.” Reprising their roles from the Finborough production, the cast will feature Todd Boyce, David Leopold, Alex Lowe, Lucy Robinson and Lisa Stevenson. Finborough Theatre to stage European Premiere of Late Company

London's Finborough Theatre is to stage the European Premiere of award-winning playwright Jordan Tannahill's Late Company. Directed by Michael Yale, the production will star Todd Boyce (The Exorcist, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), David Leopold (Muted),  Alex Lowe (Fatal Attraction), Lucy Robinson (Waste) and Lisa Stevenson (War Horse). Following the anniversary of their son's suicide, in an attempt to gain closure his parents hold a dinner party. The guests; his heartbroken mother and father, his so-called tormentor Curtis, and his parents.
