West End transfer for new teen-drag musical

Sheffield Theatre’s acclaimed production of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will transfer to the Apollo Theatre later this year.

Inspired by the documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at Sixteen, the show is a fearless, funny, coming of age musical with catchy new songs by lead singer-songwriter of The Feeling Dan Gillespie Sells and writer Tom MacRae.

Set on a council estate in Sheffield, 16 year old Jamie dreams of becoming a drag queen.  Supported by his loving mum and a few friends, Jamie overcomes the bullies to step into the spot light and become a star.

John McCrea will reprise his role of Jamie, alongside the majority of the Sheffield Crucible cast including: Josie Walker, Mina Anwar, Tamsin Carroll and Daniel Anthony, Luke Baker, Courtney Bowman, James Gillian, Harriet Payne, Shiv Rabheru, Lucie Shorthouse, Kirstie Skivington.

Directed by Jonathan Butterell the show is design by multi-award winning Anna Fleischle.

The show premiered to 4 and 5-star reviews in Sheffield earlier this year, with immediate talk of a West End theatre provided a suitable theatre could be found.
