Gary Trainor as Dewey Finn in School of Rock

New Dewey confirmed for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock

Gary Trainor has been confirmed as the new lead in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical School of Rock.

Trainor, who takes over David Fynn on 17 May, has played the alternate Dewey since the show’s London premiere in October 2016. His West End credits include Beautiful The Carole King Musical, I Can’t Sing, Potted Potter and The Shawshank Redemption.

Stephen Leask, best known for One Man, Two Guvnors at the Theatre Royal Haymarket will join the cast as alternate Dewey.

Based on the wildly successful 2003 musical comedy film School of Rock starring Jack Black, the show sees wannabee rock-star Dewey Finn take a teaching job in a prestigious school to make ends meet. Discovering the musical talents of his class he enlists them to form a rock group and conquer Battle of the Bands.
