EastEnders’ Rita Simons, Lucie Jones and Bill Ward are set to star in a major new UK tour of Legally Blonde the Musical.
Rita Simons, best known for playing Roxy Mitchell in BBC’s EastEnders, will play ‘bend & snap’ Paulette Bonafonte with Bill Ward, star of Coronation Street and Emmerdale playing Professor Callahan.
Lucie Jones, currently starring as Maureen in the 20th anniversary production of Rent and who will soon represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest will play Elle Woods. Jones previously played the role in the Leicester Curve production.
Based on the Reese Witherspoon film, Legally Blonde The Musical premiered on Broadway earning several Tony nominations and subsequently transferred to the West End where it starred Sheridan Smith and was nominated for 5 Olivier Awards, winning 3 including Best New Musical.
The musical will open at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley (18 – 23 Sept) then tour the UK and Ireland until June 2018, visiting High Wycombe, Bristol, Woking, Northampton, Sheffield, Wolverhampton, Southampton, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin, Stoke, Canterbury, Norwich, Leeds, Blackpool, Sunderland, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Nottinghaml, Birmingham, Salford Lowry, Liverpool, Brighton, Wimbledon.
