Tony Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated actress Sophie Okonedo will join Damian Lewis in the West End production of Edward Albee’s black comedy, The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?
Okonedo is best known for her on-screen work including acclaimed film Hotel Rwanda, miniseries Tsunami: The Aftermath and the drama series Criminal Justice.
Her recent theatre credits include the Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun for which she won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play and Ivo van Hove’s Broadway production of The Crucible for which she received a Tony award nomination. Previous theatre roles include Haunted Child, Nightsongs, I Just Dropped Off to See the Man, Been So Long and Women and Sisters for the Royal Court Theatre, and Troilus and Cressida and Money at the National Theatre.
Albee’s play about a father who falls in love with a goat is considered one of his greatest works alongside Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?

The production will be directed by former Royal Court Artistic Director Ian Rickson.
The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? will have a limited 12 week run from 24 March 2017 until 24 June 2017 at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
