Samuel Adamson’s acclaimed adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s Running Wild will tour the UK next year.
Originally produced by Regent’s Park Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre, the production received its London premiere at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre this summer to widespread acclaim.
The UK tour will open on 10 February 2017 in Chichester and travel to Coventry, Sheffield, Wycombe, Hackney Empire London, Blackpool, Leeds, Salford, Norwich, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Plymouth, Northampton, Canterbury and finish on 10 June 2017 at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.
A beautiful story of love, loss and of living for the moment, Running Wild was inspired by a true story in which a boy was saved from the 2004 tsunami when the elephant he was riding ran off into the jungle moments before the waves came crashing down.
This innovative and imaginative production is brought to life with the use of life-size puppets from the team which worked on the National Theatre’s production of War Horse.
Running Wild is co-directed by Dale Rooks and Timothy Sheader, with set and costume design by Paul Wills, puppetry design and direction by Finn Caldwell and Toby Olié, original songs and composition by Rod Paton, additional music by Nick Powell and Louise Anna Duggan, sound score by Nick Powell, and lighting design by Paul Anderson.
Casting to be announced.
