Cameron Mackintosh announces UK tour dates for the legendary production of Miss Saigon.
Following the recent West End revival, Miss Saigon is set to embark on a major UK tour opening at Curve Leicester on 3 July 2017.
The tour will continue to the Birmingham Hippodrome (26 July – 23 September 2017), Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Dublin (Wednesday 4 October to Saturday 18 November), Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff (29 November 2017 – 6 January 2018), Festival Theatre Edinburgh (17 January – 17 February 2018) and Mayflower Southampton (21 February – 17 March 2018).
Cameron Mackintosh said, “It’s hard to believe that it has been over 25 years since MISS SAIGON first opened, but if anything, the tragic love story of the show has become even more relevant today. This new production, directed by Laurence Connor, takes a grittier, more realistic approach than the original production while still delivering the power and epic sweep of Boublil and Schönberg’s tremendous score.”
Miss Saigon tells the story of young bar girl named Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with Chris, an American GI – but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon.
This year, the show will also be screening the 25th anniversary gala on 16 October, which includes performances from the original Engineer Jonathan Pryce and Lea Salonga who played Kim.
The critically acclaimed West End revival opens on Broadway in March 2017.
Casting for the UK tour and further dates will be announced soon. Tickets for the start of the tour will go on sale in October.
