National Theatre to broadcast The Threepenny Opera live to cinemas

Rufus Norris’s production of The Threepenny Opera will be broadcast live to cinemas on 22 September 2016 from the National Theatre.

The musical, which stars Rory Kinnear, Rosalie Craig, Haydn Gwynne and Sharron Small is a landmark of twentieth century musical theatre.

Containing ‘filthy language and immoral behaviour’ it received glowing reviews, with the critics calling it “grimy, filthy, and tremendously good fun” Time Out, “enjoyably raucous” Evening Standard and “a snarling, sexy beast of a show” Independent.

Adapted by Simon Stephens, it features design by Vicki Mortimer, choreography by Imogen Knight, lighting by Paule Constable and sound by Paul Arditti.

The Threepenny Opera runs until 1 October 2016 at the National Theatre.
