Promises, Promises gets London revival

Almost fifty years after its West End premiere, the hit Broadway musical Promises, Promises will be revived at Southwark Playhouse.

Based on Billy Wilder’s 1960 Oscar-winning film The Apartment, Promises, Promises is about a junior executive at an insurance company who sets out to climb the corporate ladder by allowing his apartment to be used by his married superiors for extra marital affairs

The 1969 musical features music by Burt Bacharach, lyrics by Hal David and book by Neil Simon.

The musical received a Broadway revival sn 2010 starring Will & Grace’s Sean Hayes and Wicked star Kristin Chenoweth.

Bacharach songs which feature in the musical include “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again”, “Knowing When To Leave”, “A House is Not a Home” and “I Say a Little Prayer”.

Promises, Promises will open at the Southwark Playhouse in January 2017.
