Gary Barlow has confirmed a new musical featuring the songs of Take That will be cast through a new BBC talent show.
Barlow launched the new BBC One show with a mini performance to an unsuspecting crowd of shoppers.
The series is called Let It Shine and will seek to find five performers who will appear in a new stage show called The Band.
Hosted by Mel Giedroyc and Graham Norton, the series will be judged by Barlow who will be joined by three mentors each week.
According to the BBC, the show is not looking for lookalikes but people who “can sing and move as well as the original members of the group”.
Nationwide auditions will take place in July and August this year, with filming for the series beginning in September.
Casting for the series is now open and more information can be found here
The series marks a return to the theatre talent show format, following How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria (2006), Over The Rainbow (2010) and Superstar (2012).
The new stage show will open in 2017 and will be created in association with Take That members Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald.
