Nathan Lane joins cast of Angels in America

Further casting has been announced for the National Theatre’s upcoming production of Angels in America.

Nathan Lane, Susan Brown, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and James McArdle will join the previously announced Andrew Garfield, Denise Gough and Russell Tovey.

Tony Kushner’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play will be directed by Marianne Elliott in May 2017.

Lane is a two-time Tony and Emmy Award-winning American actor. He is best known for The Birdcage, The Producers, Guys and Dolls, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and his voice work in The Lion King and Stuart Little. He is also a regular in TV sitcom Modern Family.

Brown has starred in Husbands & Sons, Harper Regan and Playing with Fire at the National Theatre, as well as Julius Caesar at the Donmar at St Ann’s Warehouse.  Her television roles include Septa Mordane in the first series of Game of Thrones, Call The Midwife, Broadchurch, Torchwood and Prime Suspect.

McArdle’s previous credits include Platonov and Ivanov at Chichester Festival Theatre and James I in The James Plays.

Nathan Stewart-Jarrett has starred in Misfits and Utopia and The History Boys on tour and in the West End.

Angels in America received its British premiere at the National Theatre’s Cottesloe in 1992.

Angels in America runs from May 2017 at the National Theatre.
