The School of Rock

Is Killian Donnelly heading back to school?

Killian Donnelly the West End’s leading man for musical theatre has been tipped for the central role of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new musical School of Rock.

Donnelly who has had a run of leading West End roles including The Commitments, Memphis, and Kinky Boots is seen as perfect casting for the role of Dewey Finn.

Based on the wildly successful 2003 musical comedy film School of Rock starring Jack Black, the show sees wannabee rock-star Dewey Finn take a teaching job in a prestigious school to make ends meet. Discovering the musical talents of his class he enlists them to form a rock group and conquer Battle of the Bands.

No news on casting has been announced but with Donnelly leaving the hugely successful production of Kinky Boot’s in August and School of Rock opening in October it will only be a matter of time before it’s announced.

School of Rock – The Musical will run from 24 October 2016 at the New London Theatre.
