Former Neighbours star Jason Donovan will star as record producer Sam Phillips in the upcoming UK tour of Million Dollar Quartet.
The Tony Award-winning musical tells the true story of the famed recording session that brought together musical icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time.
Featuring hit songs such as Blue Suede Shoes, Fever, That’s All Right, Sixteen Tons, Great Balls of Fire, Walk the Line, Whole Lotta Shakin‘ Goin’ On, Who Do You Love?, Matchbox, Folsom Prison Blues, Hound Dog it is considered one of the greatest jam sessions of all time.
Donovan’s theatre credits including The Rocky Horror Show, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Further casting includes Martin Kaye as Jerry Lee Lewis, Robbie Durham as Johnny Cash, Ross William Wild as Elvis Presley, Matt Wycliffe as Carl Perkins and Katie Ray as Dyanne.
Following its success in the West End, Las Vegas and on Broadway, the national tour opens at the Curve Theatre in Leicester on 14 September 2016 and tours to Sheffield, Nottingham, Malvern, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Glasgow, Southampton and finishes in Bristol on 3 December 2016.
