English National Ballet announces new executive director

English National Ballet (ENB) has announced Patrick Harrison as its new executive director.

Harrison, who is currently executive director of Cambridge Arts Theatre, will start in his new role on 27 June 2016.

He will lead on the delivery of the company’s planned move to London City Island in 2018 and provide strategic operational leadership to best utilise its resources and realise the Company’s artistic and audience objectives.

Harrison said “English National Ballet is adept at celebrating its rich history… I look forward to building on this success by ensuring the organisation has the talent, resources and resilience it needs to thrive.”

Prior to his role at Cambridge Arts Theatre, Harrison was director of commercial operations at the National Theatre, and he is currently on Battersea Arts Centre’s enterprises board and Bristol Old Vic Theatre’s trading board.

ENB chairman Justin Bickle said he was “delighted” about Harrison’s appointment.

Harrison succeeds Caroline Thomson, who stepped down after three years earlier this month and has become a member of the company’s board of trustees.

ENB’s director of finance, Pippa Adamson, will take on executive director responsibilities in the interim period.
