Andrew Scott will play Hamlet at the Almeida Theatre
The Almeida Theatre have confirmed Andrew Scott will play the title role alongside Juliet Stevenson’s Gertrude in their forthcoming production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
Hamlet will mark the Bafta and Olivier award winning actors Almeida Theatre debut.
Robert Icke, whose recent hits include 1984, Uncle Vanya and Oresteia will direct the tragedy which forms part of the Almeida 2016-17 season..
Scott, who is well known for his film and television work, was most recently on the London stage in the critically acclaimed production of The Dazzle at Found 111.
Hamlet will run in February 2017 with dates and further casting to be announced.
