Sonia Friedman Productions celebrate 20 Olivier Award nominations

Sonia Friedman Productions celebrates the announcement of the 2016 Olivier Award Nominations with an astounding 20 nominations for productions including Hamlet, A Christmas Carol, Farinelli and the King, Bend It Like Beckham and Oresteia.

Farinelli and the King received 6 nominations including Best New Play, Best Actor for Mark Rylance, Best Supporting Actress for Melody Grove, Best Costume Design, Best Set Design and Outstanding Achievement in Music.

Bend It Like Beckham received 5 nominations, Oresteia and Hamlet 4 nominations each and A Christmas Carol was nominated for Best New Comedy.

On hearing of the nominations Sonia Friedman said: “It is extraordinary. I want to take the chance to congratulate all the writers, performers, composers, directors, designers, lighting designers, sound designers, musicians, co-producers, investors and of course my team at SFP.” She then went on to say “I also want to say a very big thank you to all the immensely talented artists involved in all the productions we produced and co-produced in 2015 /2016. Today I am feeling very proud.”

Tony Award winning sound designer Christopher Shutt was nominated for Hamlet and The Father.
