Ian McKellen and Stanley Tucci join Almedia’s The Odyssey

Ian McKellen, Juliet Stevenson, Stanley Tucci and Andrew Scott will take part in the Almeida Theatre’s reading of Homer’s The Odyssey.

The Almeida celebrate the end of their Greeks season with a reading of Homer’s The Odyssey staged in unusual locations across London.

Audiences will be able to experience the live reading of The Odyssey at four locations starting with the Almeida at 8.30am, Tower Pier at 11.00am, Islington Town Hall at 3.00pm and a secret location at 5.00pm. The readings will be streamed live from www.almeida.co.uk/odyssey

Over 35 actors will take part in the reading including Ian McKellen, Juliet Stevenson, Stanley Tucci, Andrew Scott, Jeremy Irvince, Anna Madeley, Douglas Henshall, Bertie Carvel, Miranda Richardson, George MacKay, Jenna Russell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Susannah Fielding and Simon Russell Beale.

The Odyssey, directed by Rupert Goold and Robert Icke, follows a reading of The Iliad earlier this year and concludes the Almeida’s season dedicated to Greek theatre.
