The full cast has been revealed for Speculations, coming to the Marylebone Theatre from 30 October 2026, with Jolyon Coy and Natalie Dunne starring Olivier Award-winner Janie Dee.
Full casting for the world premiere of Speculations has been announced, with Jolyon Coy (Bird Grove) playing Bobby in the play, and Natalie Dunne(The Girl on the Train) as Norma Jean, starring alongside previously announced Olivier Award-winner Janie Dee.
Speculations, written by Torben Betts and directed by Sir Trevor Nunn, is a political thriller that follows American investigative journalist Dorothy Kilgallen as she investigates the mysterious deaths of Marilyn Monroe, President John F. Kennedy and Lee Harvey Oswald in the 1960s. It is showing at the Marylebone Theatre from 30 October 2026 until 3 January 2027.

Cast and creatives for Speculations
Dee leads the cast as Dorothy Kilgallen – an Olivier Award winner for Comic Potential, Dee is currently appearing in The Truth at the Apollo Theatre, and her stage credits include The Motive and the Cue at the National Theatre and Blithe Spirit opposite Dame Angela Lansbury.
Dee is joined by Coy and Dunne, as well as Gloria Obianyo (Paradise) as Flo , Joseph Potter (Much Ado About Nothing) as Lee, and Ferdy Roberts (Kyoto) as Carlos.
Speculations is written by Torben Betts and directed by Sir Trevor Nunn, with design by Lee Newby. Nunn said he’s been intrigued by the contradictions surrounding the deaths of JFK and Marilyn Monroe for his entire career, and Speculations gives him the chance to dramatise them through Kilgallen’s real-life investigation, an for Betts, it’s a chance to give voice to a journalist he believes was silenced.
What is Speculations about?
The play is set in New York in 1965, and traces a trail from Hollywood to the White House, and from the Kennedy dynasty to the New Orleans underworld, blending Hollywood glamour, political intrigue and true-crime mystery. It plunges into the shadows behind some of the twentieth century’s most infamous deaths, and asks a tantalising question of how far would someone might go for the truth.
