Agatha Christie’s record-breaking thriller The Mousetrap unveils its principal cast ahead of a 75th anniversary UK tour opening in Birmingham this September. The classic whodunnit first opened in 1952 in the West End.
Long-running play The Mousetrap has announced the principal cast for its upcoming 75th anniversary UK tour. Agatha Christie’s classic whodunnit embarks on a new tour from 3 September 2026 in Birmingham.
Earlier this year the production marked its 30,000th West End performance and received a Guinness World Records certificate for the longest theatrical run.
The 75th anniversary cast
Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap is currently the world’s longest-running play. The new tour will visit more than 25 cities across the UK through 2027.
The cat will include:
- Emily Laing (One Life) as Mollie Ralston
- Jack Hardwick (The Bodyguard) as Giles Ralston
- Thomas Barrett (Summer Folk) as Christopher Wren
- Clare Duffy (Pipe Dream) as Miss Casewell
- James Peake (The Invisible Man) as Mr Paravicini
- Alfie Richards (The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe) as Detective Sergeant Trotter
- Nicholas Bailey (EastEnders) as Major Metcalf
- Susan Penhaligon (A Fine Romance) as Mrs Boyle
The tour is directed by Hannah Chissick, with lighting design by Nic Farman, casting by Denise Silvey and resident direction by Myles Brown.

Written by Agatha Christie, The Mousetrap follows seven strangers trapped in a remote guesthouse as a policeman arrives through a deadly snowstorm with a chilling warning: a murderer may already be among them.
Christie, the famed author of detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, wrote more than 20 original plays, for the stage and for tv and radio. In 1954, she became the only female playwright to have three plays running at the same time in London’s West End, a record that has yet to be broken. Those plays were The Mousetrap (1952), Witness for the Prosecution (1953) and Spider’s Web (1954).
