Auf dem Gebirge hat man ein Geschrei gehört (On the Mountain A Cry Was Heard) is an engrossing production, set upon a soil-strewn stage and featuring music from Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf and Henry Purcell. Gebirge touches upon common themes found in Bausch’s work: love, power, and the idiosyncratic nature of human relationships, creating a piece that is in turns sometimes delightful, and sometimes dark and powerful.

Auf dem Gebirge hat man ein Geschrei gehört captures Bausch at the height of her powers, remaining as fresh and exciting now as when it was first performed in 1984.
