New musical The Lost Boys has been making waves on the Great White Way this year, so it’s no wonder rumours have been floating as to whether it will cross the ocean. The Tony Award Winning musical is based on the classic 1987 film of the same name, starring Corey Feldman, Corey Haim and Kiefer Sutherland.
The Lost Boys musical has taken Broadway by storm since it opened in April of this year. The musical was nominated for a whopping twelve Tony Awards and took home four. Since it’s opened, it has generated plenty of buzz, including rumours about whether it will come to the West End.
In June, while promoting his new Apple TV show Cape Fear, actor Patrick Wilson, who serves as a producer on The Lost Boys, confirmed in an interview that they want to see a West End transfer for the musical.
When asked if they were bringing The Lost Boys to the West End, Wilson answered, ‘we will, yeah.’
There have been no other updates so far but we’re curious to see how soon the production can make the leap.
The Lost Boys on stage
The 1987 Warner Bros film directed by Joel Schumacher has become a cult phenomenon since its release, influencing generations of vampire stories, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Vampire Diaries to Twilight.
The coming-of-age story follows brothers Michael and Sam Emerson, who move to the coastal town of Santa Carla, California where they unwittingly get caught between a gang of rebellious teenage vampires and a band of unlikely vampire hunters.
The new musical brings the supernatural horror-comedy to the stage under the direction of Tony Award-winning director Michael Arden (Parade), with an electrifying score by The Rescues, a book by David Hornsby & Chris Hoch, and orchestrations by Ethan Popp & The Rescues.
We’ll be eagerly awaiting any news about a West End transfer for this thrilling musical taking Broadway by storm.
