The first production images have been released for Shakespeare’s Globe’s vivid new take on Love’s Labour’s Lost, and they capture a Shakespeare comedy quite unlike any other on the Globe stage this summer. One of Shakespeare’s earliest and most rarely staged plays has been reimagined as a blazing, flamenco-inspired spectacle, running in the Globe Theatre until 13 September 2026.
The production marks the Globe directorial debut of Associate Artist Indiana Lown-Collins, who channels the warmth and vibrancy of her rural Spanish roots into the piece, igniting Shakespeare’s text with the music, movement and fierce emotional honesty of flamenco. Alongside the acting company, the production features flamenco dancers Pablo Egea and Anita La Maltesa and flamenco singer Carlos Lobo Cordón.
In the court of Navarre, the King and his lords swear off the company of women to devote themselves to study… until four women arrive on a diplomatic mission and their carefully made vows collapse in a flurry of wit, desire and longing. Rarely staged and refreshingly human, it’s a comedy that dares to leave love unresolved.
The company is led by Philip Arditti as Berowne, Ned Costello as the King of Navarre, Norah Lopez Holden as the Princess and Bea Segura as Rosaline, with Andro Crespo as Don Adriano de Armado, Daniel Crossley as Boyet, Joshua Hill as Costard, Philip Labey as Longaville and Katy Stephens as Holofernes among the ensemble. The creative team includes designer Katie Lias, movement director and choreographer Carmen Igarza, and co-composers Michael McMahon and Adrian Sola.
