Check out the new trailer for Kinky Boots at the London Coliseum in London.

The Olivier, Tony and Grammy Award-winning Kinky Boots is wowing the West End with a stellar run and this newly released trailer showcases just how joyous and spectacular a show it is.

Starring Strictly Come Dancing favourite Johannes Radebe as the fabulous Lola and X Factor winner Matt Cardle as struggling shoe factory owner Charlie Price, this reimagined production plays the London Coliseum until 11 July 2026.

Directed by Nikolai Foster (Grease, Calendar Girls) with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, the show tells the story of an unlikely friendship between two men from very different worlds — and the glittering, heel-stomping solution they find to save a Northampton shoe factory from going under.

The new trailer gives the first real sense of the scale and energy Foster is bringing to the Coliseum’s vast stage: it’s bursting with sequins, stilettos and soaring vocals, with Radebe’s Lola centre stage and very much in command.

With a cast of Angels in tow and Lauper’s irresistible score driving every frame, this looks set to be a production that earns every one of its standing ovations.

What to expect

At its heart, Kinky Boots is a story about acceptance, reinvention and the unlikely connections that change people’s lives. Based on the true story of a Northampton shoe factory that partnered with a drag performer to create a line of boots for men, the show balances big comedy and even bigger musical numbers with genuine emotional weight.

Johannes Radebe stars as Lola, the drag queen performer whose vision and creative energy transforms Charlie’s failing factory into a high-end maker of boots strong enough to support a man in heels. Radebe, best known to British audiences as a professional dancer and fan favourite on Strictly Come Dancing, steps into his first major West End leading role, bringing his background in performance and movement to a character that demands both.

Matt Cardle, who won The X Factor in 2010 and has since built a substantial career in musical theatre, most recently starring in Blood Brothers on tour, plays Charlie with a warmth and everyman charm that makes the pair’s friendship at the heart of the show entirely believable.

A show built for the Coliseum

Kinky Boots has always been a show that rewards a big stage and a big sound — and the London Coliseum, one of the largest theatre auditoria in the West End, gives Foster the room to go as large as the material demands.
