The National Theatre in London has announced casting for its major revival of Caryl Churchill’s Cloud 9.
Cloud 9 is running at the National Theatre’s Lyttelton theatre from 2 November 2026 to 13 January 2027.
The lead cast will include Rebecca Humphries as Ellen / Mrs Saunders / Lin; Eloka Ivo as Joshua / Gerry; Tom Mothersdale as Harry Bagley / Martin; Charlotte Ritchie as Maud / Victoria; Ellen Robertson as Edward / Betty; Stuart Thompson as Betty / Edward; and Sam Troughton as Clive / Cathy.
Further casting will be announced.
Written by multi-award-winning playwright Caryl Churchill (Top Girls), this bold new production promises to bring fresh urgency to her daring and satirical classic about gender, power and the legacies of empire.
Almeida Theatre artistic director Dominic Cooke (The Normal Heart, Follies, Hello, Dolly!) reunites with Caryl Churchill to direct.
The wider creative team includes set designer Miriam Buether, costume designer Samuel Wyer, lighting designer Jessica Hung Han Yun, and sound designer Donato Wharton.
