dissent plays at the Young Vic, London, from 5 March to 24 April 2027.

Written and directed by Olivier and BAFTA award-winner debbie tucker green, this explosive new play examines humanity’s capacity for monstrous behaviour, and comes to the Young Vic for its 2026/27 season.

What is dissent about?

“What you don’t know
y’don’t need to know,
what y’don’t need to know can’t hurt you.”

State sponsored air conditioning and free cigarettes. Work hard, go home, chill out. Repeat.

All you have to do is comply. And question nothing.

dissent is a bold and uncompromising new work that confronts ideas of control, complicity and power, from one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary British theatre.
