The Menier Chocolate Factory in London has revealed the full company joining Toby Stephens in its upcoming revival of Peter Shaffer’s multi-award-winning psychological thriller, Equus.
Joining the previously announced Toby Stephens (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) as Dr Martin Dysart are Amanda Abbington (Sherlock, Mr Selfridge) as Hesther Salomon, and Noah Valentine (Waterloo Road, Noughts and Crosses) in the pivotal role of the troubled teenager, Alan Strang.

A landmark revival
Directed by Lindsay Posner (The Deep Blue Sea), this new production is a co-production with Theatre Royal Bath.
One of Britain’s most decorated dramatists, Peter Shaffer was a multi-award-winning playwright whose celebrated body of work includes the psychological thriller Equus, the Academy Award-winning Amadeus, and West End award-winners such as Lettice and Lovage, The Royal Hunt of the Sun, and Five Finger Exercise.
In Equus, psychiatrist Martin Dysart is faced with the challenge of a lifetime when he is tasked with treating a 17-year-old boy who has inexplicably blinded six horses.
As Dysart delves into the boy’s psyche, he begins to question the nature of his own life and whether “curing” the boy’s pathological passion is a more dangerous act than the crime itself.

The full cast & creative team
The wider company features several West End regulars, and includes: Bella Aubin as Jill Mason, Emma Cunniffe as Dora Strang, Paula James as Nurse, Colin Mace as Frank Strang, Ed Mitchell as Nugget/Young Horseman, David Rubin as Dalton, with Luke Hodkinson, Aristide Lyons, Zach Parkin, Tommi Sutton, and Moses Ward.
The creative team reunites Posner with designers Paul Farnsworth (Set and Costume) and Paul Pyant (Lighting), alongside Adam Cork (Composer and Sound), and James Cousins (Movement Director).
