The world premiere production of new musical Redcliffe, written by and starring West End leading man Jordan Luke Gage, has announced full casting.
Redcliffe is playing at Southwark Playhouse Borough in London from 22 May to 4 July 2026.
Announced back in October, Jordan Luke Gage (Titanique, Bonnie & Clyde, Heathers, & Juliet) is starring in the show as William, which he has also written.
He will be joined by Daniel Krikler (Fiddler on the Roof) as Richard, with Rebecca Lock (Here and Now) as Mother.
The cast is completed by Jess Douglas-Welsh (Woven: A New Musical) as Abigail; Adrian Hansel (We Will Rock You) as Baber; Melissa Jacques (Just For One Day) as Georgie/Judge; Jade Johnson (& Juliet) as Landlady; Phoebe Kyriakopoulos (A Very Musical Birthday in Concert) as Esther; Joseph Peacock (Dear Evan Hansen) as Arthur; and Steven Serlin (Here We Are) as Officer/Felix.
Redcliffe – London casting announced
The show gets a full production after public workshop performances in 2024 at The Other Palace theatre, and an initial showcase during annual new musicals festival MTFest.
Jordan Luke Gage plays William in the show, which is a true, queer coming-of-age story set in 18th-century England. Billed as an epic tale of forbidden love during the persecution that people faced for hundreds of years, the story centres on William Critchard and Richard Arnold in Redcliffe, Bristol.
William, a man from humble beginnings, is swept up in a hurricane of passion and danger when he meets Richard, a sailor visiting the town. This meeting forces both men to question everything they knew about the world and themselves.
Redcliffe is directed by Paul Foster, with choreography by Emma Woods, set design by Andrew Exeter, musical supervision by Katy Richardson, and associate musical direction and orchestrations by Ben Tomalin.
Redcliffe has been developed by The Other Palace and Bill Kenwright Limited, and Paul Taylor-Mills is producing.
