The Van Morrison Alumni Band, featuring musicians who toured and recorded with Van Morrison over the decades, is set to play the West End’s Emerald Theatre in 2026.
Between them, The Van Morrison Alumni Band accompanied Van more than 3,000 times live in concert, as well as amassing over 600 recording credits.
This new West End residency is curated and led by renowned saxophonist and broadcaster Leo Green, and the band will be accompanied by top vocalists including Hayley Sanderson, Roo Savill and West End star and Six The Musical alumni Natalie May Paris.
The night promises to honour the music and legacy of Sir Van Morrison, offering a new way to connect with classic songs from the Van Morrison catalogue in an authentic and emotionally charged celebration of one of the greatest songwriters of our time.
The residency comes with Van Morrison’s personal blessing, with Sir Van saying in a statement: “These songs are meant to be sung and heard, and I am really happy that Leo is carrying the torch.”
Leo Green said: “It is such an honour to be able to work with the incredible songs in the Van Morrison catalogue – putting together the setlists for our live shows and playing the songs with these musicians, has been amazing, there are SO many amazing songs – I can’t wait for this weekly residency from January 13.”
Songs covered from across his 50+ albums include Moondance, Into the Mystic, Days Like This, Have I Told You Lately and Brown Eyed Girl.
The Van Morrison Alumni Band includes Leo Green (Sax), Matt Holland (Trumpet), Alec Dankworth & Steve Pearce (Bass), Robin Aspland (Piano) and Geoff Dunn (Drums). They will be joined by Matt White (Guitar).
The residency dates at the Emerald Theatre are: 13, 20, 27 January; 3, 10, 17, 24 February; and 3, 10, 17, 24 March 2026.
