The forthcoming London stage revival of Shadowlands at the Aldwych Theatre in London has announced full casting.
Shadowlands is playing at the West End’s Aldwych Theatre in London from 5 February to 9 May 2026.
Already announced is Downton Abbey and Paddington star Hugh Bonneville as C.S. Lewis, and acclaimed American TV and stage star Maggie Siff (Mad Men, Sons of Anarchy, Billions) as Joy Davidman.
They will be joined by Jeff Rawle (Drop the Dead Donkey, Doc Martin, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) as Major W.H. Lewis (Warnie); Tony Jayawardena (Nye, Bend It Like Beckham The Musical) as Rev. Harry Harrington; and Timothy Watson (The Archers, A Man For All Seasons, Murder on the Orient Express) as Professor Christopher Riley.
The cast will also feature Rebecca Blackstone, Nigel Fyfe, Jemma Geanaus, Sharan Phull, Leighton Pugh, Fode Simbo, Ernest Stroud, and Giles Taylor.
The role of Douglas, Joy Davidman’s 8-year-old son, will be shared by Ayrton English, Nathan Jago and Louis Wilkins.

BAFTA, Primetime Emmy, and Golden Globe Award-nominated Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Paddington) reprises his widely praised performance as the celebrated author of The Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis in the hit drama, written by William Nicholson (Gladiator).
The play is a moving portrait of love, loss and faith, exploring the transformative relationship between Oxford don C.S. Lewis and American poet Joy Davidman, played by TV and Broadway star Maggie Siff (Creditors, Mad Men).
Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh (Half A Sixpence, Here & Now – The Steps Musical), the production was first staged in 2019 at Chichester Festival Theatre. The story was also immortalised in the Oscar-nominated 1993 film starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger.
The wider creative team includes design by Peter McKintosh, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Fergus O’Hare and casting by Annelie Powell CDG and Jim Carnahan. The show is produced by Jonathan Church Theatre Productions, Trafalgar Theatre Productions and Tilted.
