A controversial play about Rupert Murdoch by acclaimed Aussie playwright David Williamson is rumoured to be West End bound.
Revived this November in Sydney (25 November – 14 December, Theatre Royal Sydney) after a sell-out run in Melbourne last year, Rupert will star American veteran actor James Cromwell – best known for Babe and LA Confidential – as elder Murdoch.
The cast also includes Guy Edmonds as the ‘young Rupert’ and Jane Turner – aka Kath in Kath and Kim – as both Dame Margaret Thatcher and Dame Elisabeth Murdoch.
The show is set to move to the West End in 2015, with a Broadway run in 2016.
Cromwell bagged an Emmy nod in 2000 for playing another media mogul, William Randolph Hearst.
