Is Pride The Musical West End bound?

Hit British movie Pride, directed by forthcoming Old Vic Theatre artistic director Matthew Warchus and witten by Stephen Beresford, may be heading to the West End as a musical.

Stephen Beresford confirmed that they are looking at turning the movie into a stage musical, hot on the heels of hits such as Billy Elliot and Kinky Boots and forthcoming musical Made in Dagenham.

Pride is about a group of gay London activists who go to South Wales to support the miners during the 1984 strike.

Warchus has been less commital about a stage remake of Pride, telling the New York Daily News that it “may or may not be in the works”!

Matthew Warchus is also the director of Matilda The Musical, which is heading for a movie adaptation in 2019.
