Shakespeare’s Globe in London has announced full casting for its forthcoming revival of Shakespeare’s The Tempest at their candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

The Tempest is playing in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse from 17 January to 12 April 2026.

As announced in September, award-winning theatre maker Tim Crouch (I, Malvolio; An Oak Tree) directs and stars as Prospero in the new production, alongside Slow Horses star Naomi Wirthner (How to Train Your Dragon) as Ariel.

They will be joined by Faizal Abdullah as Caliban, Colin Michael Carmichael as Sebastian, Joshua Griffin as Ferdinand, Amanda Hadingue as Antonia, Tyrone Huggins as Gonzalo, Mercè Ribot as Trinculo, Patricia Rodriguez as Stephano, Sophie Steer as Miranda, and Jo Stone-Fewings as Alonso.

Joining Tim Crouch in the creative team are Associate Director Justina Kehinde and Candlelight Designer Anna Watson, with Orlando Gough as Composer, Rachana Jhadav as Designer, and Annemette Verspeak as the Voice and Text Consultant. The Tempest was cast by Becky Paris CDG, Head of Casting at Shakespeare’s Globe.

Currently playing at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is A Midsummer Night’s Dream, until 31 January 2026. Coming up at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is Pinocchio, from 29 November 2025 to 4 January 2026.

The Tempest is running at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse from 17 January to 12 April 2026.
